About
About Vintage Home Finds UK
Vintage Home Finds UK is an independent guide for British buyers who love warm, characterful interiors — Victorian, Edwardian, country cottage, Georgian and mid-century pieces that give a home a sense of history.
What we do
We write research-led buying guides for vintage lighting, small furniture, mirrors, old signs, prints, storage boxes and decorative home pieces. Every guide includes practical checks, sensible price ranges and suggested search terms so you can compare current listings yourself.
What we do not do
- We are not an antique dealer.
- We do not stock, sell or ship any items.
- We do not personally inspect or test individual listings.
- We cannot value antiques or authenticate specific pieces.
- We are not involved in any transactions, postage or seller disputes.
How our guides are created
We research period and style references, study what serious collectors look for, review typical second-hand listings over time and distil that into a calm, practical buying checklist. Each guide focuses on what to check before you commit to a purchase: condition, measurements, delivery, seller feedback, returns, authenticity, and — for anything electrical — safety.
For vintage lighting in particular, please check whether a piece has been rewired and PAT tested. If you are not sure, ask a qualified electrician to inspect it before putting it into daily use.
Where to look
The UK has one of the deepest pools of genuine vintage and second-hand home pieces anywhere — from house clearances, small dealers, auctions, salvage yards and private sellers. Wherever you shop, buyer protection, established seller feedback and clear return terms make it far easier to hunt for characterful pieces, as long as you know what to look for.
Our buying principles
- Honesty over hype — no fake "tested by us" claims.
- Patience pays — the right piece is worth waiting for.
- Read the listing carefully, then read it again.
- Measure your space before you buy.
- Prefer sellers with strong feedback and clear return terms.
- If in doubt about safety or authenticity, walk away.
